Influenza (Flu) Consultation

Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a viral infection that affects the respiratory

system. It is highly contagious and can be spread through the air by coughing or sneezing, and by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching one's own mouth, nose, or eyes. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, muscle aches, and fatigue. In some cases, it can lead to serious complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and even death.

Prevention of influenza include getting a flu vaccine, washing your hands frequently and avoiding close contact with sick people. Treatment of influenza is mainly focused on relieving symptoms, and may include over-the-counter medication for fever and pain, and rest. Antiviral drugs can also be prescribed to reduce the severity and duration of the illness. It's important to note that the flu can be more severe for people with underlying health conditions and elderly people.
